| We have been trying to buy a house for 2 months now. One after the other, the houses we put offers on are sold to someone else. Recently we found a little house in a great location in the country. We put a high offer on it, and were one of the top four bidders. We had high hopes for this house, especially since it was exactly what we wanted/needed, was listed for a low price, was in an ideal location, then it was realized that there was only 1 1/2 acre land rather than over 5 as the listing had said. All these things encouraged our hope that this would be the one. This morning we found out someone else got the house.
We could blame the bank - come on, give first-time homebuyers a chance! Forget the cash offers! But we believe God controls all things, and if He had wanted us to have the house, He would have made it happen. So we could blame God - but how can you blame Someone who has your best interests in mind? I just wish God would let us know what He's doing. Are we supposed to keep looking - persevering in what we believe is a good pursuit - or is God trying to tell us to give it up for now? It would be much easier to cooperate with God if we knew what He wanted!

| Wow, it has been a while! I guess I'd better post lest everyone thinks we faded into oblivion or something! Ha ha. Life is staying busy. We are house-hunting but are finding there's not much in our price range that would suit our needs. We are putting an offer on a house today. Not much chance that we will get it, but if God wants to work a miracle we have to do our part. I had been starting to wonder whether God will really come through for us - we keep looking and having no success. Then Friday night we were at an auction and I spotted a kitchen table and chairs set that would work very nicely for us. (We had been using a round table that was really going to be quite clumsy to use once Carina gets into a highchair.) When time came to bid, we were the only bidders, so we got it for a great price. Turns out this table is the kind I always wanted - color & style, size, washablilty, everything! It was like God reminded us that He does know what we need and cares enough to even give what we want! Same goes for a house: God knows better than we do what we need, and He very well knows our wants, as well. Thanks, God! Carina is now nearing 5 1/2 months old and is sitting very well by herself. Jolynn adores her little sister but tends to get a bit rough. At this point our goal is to keep Carina from getting maimed until she can defend herself! LOL! It's really not that bad, but we do have to keep an eye on them. Here's a picture from when Carina was still needing the boppy. She's like "Help, Jolynn's hugging me again!"
I got a really sweet picture of the girls just before we went to church the other day. Jolynn is 2 yrs 4 months, and Carina is 5 months.
Okay, all for now. | | |
| Last weekend we were with my mom's family for our annual family camping. I wasn't sure how it would go with both a toddler and a baby, but it went very well overall. The first night Jolynn slept on the ground, but then when naptime came the next day she decided to explore the tent instead. So then I got out the pack n play for her. Presto - she went to sleep like she was supposed to.
While packing for the weekend, I forgot about the possibility of cool nights, and so the first night the girls lacked warm sleepwear. I made sure they were well-covered that night, then the next day ran to the local thrift store and found suitable clothing. Here are the girls the next morning, happy to be together and happy to be warm. My cousin Eric and his wife Lanita's baby girl, Karalyn, is about a month younger than Carina. It was fun to compare our babies. They are quite a bit different in size, considering Carina started out a few pounds heavier than Karalyn, and of course she is older, too. I weighed and measured the girls the other week. Carina now weighs 14 pounds - only ten pounds lighter than Jolynn's 24 pounds!! Comparing to Jolynn at her approximate age, Carina's weight gain is holding steady at 2 pounds more than Jolynn when she was a baby. Interestingly, Carina's weight is the same as Jolynn's at 6 months, and she is two inches longer! We might have a tall child coming up! All for now.

| I have pictures to show off! I happened to remember that the girls both have dark velvet dresses right now, and so they wore them to church this morning. I took this picture at home after church.
And here's Carina happily exercising her latest delightful feat: cooing!
Okay, all for now. Later!
